How Much Does Gemini Cost? Every Google AI Plan, Priced (2026)
Google sells Gemini four ways: a free app, Google AI plans from $4.99 to $199.99, Workspace seats for businesses, and an API billed per token. Here's every price, what each one buys, and the family rule that changes the maths.

Ask what ChatGPT costs and you get a ladder of plans from one company. Ask what Gemini costs and the honest answer starts with a question back: which Gemini?
Google sells it four ways. There's a free Gemini app. There are Google AI plans at $4.99, $19.99, $99.99 and $199.99 a month, sold through Google One with storage attached. There's Gemini inside Google Workspace, priced per user for businesses. And there's the Gemini API, billed per token for anyone building on it. The four are priced separately, they don't share an allowance, and a lot of people paying for one think they've paid for another.
Below is every price, what each tier buys, where the money actually goes, and two things Google's plan page doesn't put in the headline: a family-sharing rule that can split one plan six ways, and an API price list where two of the four main models get more expensive within ten weeks. I read every figure on Google's own pages on 27 October 2026: the US plan page, the Google One plans page, the Gemini and Google One help centres, the Workspace pricing page and the API pricing page. Google changed the free plan on 9 October and launched a new model on 13 October, so treat this as a dated snapshot.
Gemini Pricing at a Glance
| Plan | Price (US) | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | The Gemini app with Google picking the model, mostly Flash-Lite, and 15 GB of storage |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99/mo | The Flash model, 2x the free plan's usage, Gemini in Gmail and Vids, 400 GB |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99/mo | Gemini 4 Argon and the Pro model, 4x usage, Gemini in Docs and Sheets, 5 TB, YouTube Premium Lite |
| Google AI Ultra | $99.99 or $199.99/mo | 5x or 20x AI Pro's usage, Project Genie, YouTube Premium, from 20 TB |
| Google Workspace | $7, $14 or $22 per user/mo | Business email and Drive with Gemini included, priced on a yearly commitment |
| Gemini Enterprise | From $21 per seat/mo | Google's agent platform for teams, connectors to other tools, up to 300 seats on Business |
| Gemini API | Per token | Pay as you go for developers, with a free tier on the Flash models |
Three things sit underneath that table.
The Google AI plans are storage plans with Gemini attached. Google's US storage-only plans stop at 200 GB for $2.99 a month. Above that, every storage tier Google sells comes with Gemini. So for a lot of households the real question isn't "should I pay for Gemini" but "how much storage do I need", and Gemini comes along at whatever level that answer lands.
Google publishes multipliers, not numbers. AI Plus gets "2x higher than standard limits", AI Pro "4x", and Ultra "5x or 20x higher than AI Pro limits". Google never says how big the standard limit is. Since May its limits have been compute-based, so a long chat with a large file costs more of your allowance than a short question. Your limit refreshes every five hours until you hit a weekly cap.
Google's US pages list monthly prices only. I found no yearly price for any Google AI plan on the US plan page or the Google One plans page on 27 October.
Is Gemini Free? What $0 Gets You
Yes, and the free plan is more generous with features than most. Canvas, Deep Research, image generation with Nano Banana 2, music generation, audio overviews, slide generation and connected apps are all on it, according to Google's limits article.
What Google rations on the free plan is the model. Since 9 October, accounts without a plan use Auto, and Google's change notice says "most prompts will go to Flash-Lite, our fastest model." Free accounts can't choose Flash or Pro themselves; turning Auto off just means Flash-Lite for everything. The context window is 32K tokens, against 128K on AI Plus and a million on Pro. And Google says Deep Research may be unavailable to free users at busy times, with free limits cut "before users with a plan" when capacity tightens.
I went through the free plan line by line, including the privacy settings it comes with, in what Gemini gives you for free.
Google AI Plus at $4.99: The Cheapest Way to Pay
Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month in the US. Google's plan card lists:
- The Flash model, which you choose yourself rather than getting Auto
- 2x the free plan's usage, plus video generation and Daily Brief
- A 128K context window, four times the free plan's
- 200 Google Flow credits for its video studio
- Gemini in Gmail, Vids and more
- 400 GB of storage across Gmail, Drive and Photos
- Sharing with up to five others in your family group
Two things are missing that matter more than the price suggests. Gemini in Docs and Sheets starts at Pro. And Plus can't buy AI credits, Google's paid top-up for when a plan runs out.
The model list on Plus is also unsettled. Google's models article lists Flash-Lite, Flash and Pro for AI Plus. Its October change notice marks Pro as unavailable on Plus, and says subscribers "should receive an email" with the date. The Plus plan card says only "Access to our Flash model." I'd buy Plus expecting Flash, and treat any Pro access as temporary.
The storage arithmetic is where Plus makes sense. Google's 200 GB storage-only plan is $2.99. Plus is $4.99 for twice that storage, with Gemini. If you'd outgrow 200 GB anyway, the AI part costs you $2 a month.
Google AI Pro at $19.99: The Plan Most People Mean
Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month. It's priced where ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro are, and it's the plan Google builds its marketing around. From Google's plan card and Google One page:
- Gemini 4 Argon, Google's newest model, which came to the Gemini app on 13 October, plus the Pro and Flash models
- 4x the free plan's usage, with video generation and Daily Brief
- A 1 million token context window. Google's help centre says that's "up to 1,500 pages of text"
- Tasks in Gemini, which works through multi-step jobs in the background, and Chrome auto browse (US and India)
- Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Vids
- 1,000 Google Flow credits
- 5 TB of storage
- YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium Standard and Google Health Premium, which Google values at $9.99 a month on its own
- The option to buy AI credits when your plan runs out
It's a big bundle, and that's both the case for it and the catch. If you'd pay for 5 TB of storage and YouTube Premium Lite anyway, Pro is cheap. If you only want a chatbot, you're paying for a storage plan you don't need with a chatbot attached.
How much Argon $19.99 buys, Google doesn't say. Its models article says "more advanced models and higher thinking levels require more of your usage," and the usage itself is a multiple of an unpublished base. When you reach the limit on a paid plan, Google says "your chat will continue with Flash-Lite."
If you're weighing the launch model specifically, Gemini 4 Argon covers who gets it and what it costs in the API.
Google AI Plus vs Pro: What the Extra $15 Buys
| AI Plus | AI Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $4.99/mo | $19.99/mo |
| Models you can pick | Flash (Pro being removed, date by email) | Argon, Pro, Flash |
| Usage vs free plan | 2x | 4x |
| Context window | 128K tokens | 1M tokens |
| Gemini in Google apps | Gmail, Vids | Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Vids |
| Storage | 400 GB | 5 TB |
| Flow credits | 200 | 1,000 |
| Buy AI credits | No | Yes |
| Extras | YouTube Premium Lite, Home Premium, Health Premium |
Here's the part the table hides. Take Google's multipliers at face value: Plus gives you two units of the free plan's usage for $4.99, Pro gives four for $19.99. Per dollar, Plus buys twice as much usage as Pro. That's my arithmetic on Google's figures, not something Google states, and the units aren't equal, because the Flash answers Plus runs on use less of the allowance than the Argon answers Pro offers.
So the $15 isn't buying more Gemini. It's buying better Gemini, a much larger context window, Gemini inside Docs and Sheets, and the bundle.
My rule of thumb: if your work lives in Google Docs or Sheets, or you regularly paste in long documents, Pro's context window and Docs integration are worth paying for. If you want a capable assistant for email and everyday questions, Plus does that for a quarter of the price.
Google AI Ultra: $99.99 or $199.99
Google AI Ultra comes at two prices. $99.99 a month gets 5x AI Pro's usage. $199.99 gets 20x. Both add the highest access to Argon and Google's other models, first access to features like Tasks in Gemini in select countries, Project Genie (Google's interactive world model, Ultra only), the full YouTube Premium plan, Google Home Premium Advanced, and storage from 20 TB. Flow credits are 10,000 or 25,000.
The two Ultra prices aren't the same deal at different sizes. Counting the free plan as one unit, the $99.99 Ultra gives 20 units and the $199.99 Ultra gives 80. Per dollar, the cheaper Ultra buys exactly what Pro does, and the expensive one buys twice as much, the same rate as AI Plus. Again, that's my arithmetic on Google's multipliers.
Ultra is for people who run out of Pro every week. If you've never seen Gemini's limit message on Pro, Ultra buys you nothing you'd notice.
The Family Rule That Changes the Maths
Every paid Google AI plan can be shared. The Google One page says AI Plus, Pro and Ultra each include "family sharing with up to five others," and Google's family-sharing help page lists "access to AI benefits such as Gemini App, Google Antigravity, Gemini Notebook, and other AI features" among what everyone in the group can use.
The conditions, from the same page: the plan manager has to be 18 or over, everyone has to live in the same country, and storage is one shared pool. Google says Flow and Antigravity limits are shared by the whole group rather than given to each person. It doesn't say the same about the Gemini app. Some extras stay with the plan manager: YouTube Premium Lite goes to the manager only, and family members don't get Google Home Premium.
If all six people use it, AI Pro works out at $3.33 a person a month, less than one AI Plus subscription for a single person.
Gemini for Business: Workspace or Gemini Enterprise
If you run a small business on Gmail with your own domain, you may already be paying for Gemini.
Google Workspace includes it. Read from Google's US pricing page, on a one-year commitment:
| Workspace plan | Price per user/mo | Gemini included |
|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | $7 | Gemini in Gmail, chat with Gemini, 30 GB per person |
| Business Standard | $14 | Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Meet and more, 2 TB per person |
| Business Plus | $22 | Everything in Standard, 5 TB per person, Vault and stronger security |
New customers were offered 20% off for the first three months. Starter, Standard and Plus top out at 300 users, and Google's page says your company data "is not used to train models."
For a freelancer or a three-person team this is usually the better route than personal AI plans. A personal AI Pro account doesn't put Gemini in your business Docs, and Business Standard at $14 a seat does. I compared what Gemini in Docs costs on each kind of account, next to Grok's free Workspace add-on, in Grok vs Gemini.
Gemini Enterprise is a different product. Google's Business tab lists the Business edition at $21 per seat a month "for small businesses and teams," up to 300 seats, with no-code agents, connectors to tools like Microsoft 365, HubSpot and Jira, and 25 GiB of pooled storage and indexing per seat. The Standard and Plus editions start at $30 per seat and add enterprise security controls. If what you want is Gemini in your email and documents, Workspace is cheaper. Enterprise is for teams that want agents working across several systems.
Gemini API Pricing: Paying Per Token
The API is for building Gemini into your own tools, not for chatting. You pay per million tokens, roughly per word in and out. These are Google's standard paid-tier prices, read on its pricing page on 27 October:
| Model | Input / 1M tokens | Output / 1M tokens | Price change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini 4 Argon | $2.00 | $10.00 | $4.00 / $20.00 from 1 December 2026 |
| Gemini 3.1 Pro | $2.00 ($4.00 over 200K) | $12.00 ($18.00 over 200K) | None listed |
| Gemini 3.8 Flash | $0.75 | $3.75 | $1.50 / $7.50 from 1 January 2027 |
| Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite | $0.30 | $2.50 | None listed |
Output prices include thinking tokens, which is where reasoning models quietly spend money.
Two of the four rates on that table double within ten weeks. Argon's launch pricing ends on 30 November, and Gemini 3.8 Flash's ends on 31 December. If you're costing out a workload now, cost it at the new prices.
Two other things change the bill. The Batch API takes 50% off for jobs that can wait. And there's a free tier on the Flash and Flash-Lite models, where input and output are "free of charge" but Google marks your content as "used to improve our products." Argon and 3.1 Pro aren't on the free tier at all. Searching the web from the API is free for the first 5,000 requests a month, then $14 per 1,000.
If you're pricing an agent rather than a chat, what AI agents actually cost to run does that arithmetic across vendors.
When the Plan Runs Out: AI Credits
Google sells AI credits as top-ups, in amounts such as 2,500, 5,000 or 20,000, with optional auto-reload. They're only for AI Pro and Ultra, and Google's AI credits help page says AI Plus can't buy them.
Google contradicts itself on what credits extend. The plan page footnote says "You can extend your limits by purchasing AI credits" next to the Gemini app limits. The credits help page says they buy "extra usage in Google Flow and Google Antigravity." I'd go by the help page: credits extend video and coding, and when the Gemini app itself runs out you wait for the five-hour refresh, continue on Flash-Lite, or upgrade.
Students Get AI Pro Free for a Year
Google's US students page offers eligible students a free year of Google AI Pro. You redeem it by 31 December 2026, a payment method is required at sign-up, and it renews at $19.99 a month unless you cancel. Offers outside the US differ by country. Every AI student discount compares Google's offer with OpenAI's and Anthropic's.
Gemini's Price Next to ChatGPT, Claude and Grok
| Assistant | Cheapest paid tier | Main tier | Heavy tiers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini | $4.99 (AI Plus) | $19.99 (AI Pro) | $99.99 or $199.99 |
| ChatGPT | $6 (Go) | $20 (Plus) | from $100 (Pro) |
| Claude | none | $20 (Pro), $17 a month billed yearly | $100 or $200 (Max) |
| Grok | $8 (Plus) | $30 (Premium) | $100 or $200 |
All read on the vendors' US pricing pages on 27 October 2026.
Gemini has the cheapest paid tier of the four, and it's the only one whose main tier comes with 5 TB of storage and YouTube. Strip out the bundle and AI Pro is priced like ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro. If you'd use the storage anyway, it's the better deal of the three.
What none of these prices covers is the other three. Pay $19.99 for Gemini, $20 for ChatGPT, $20 for Claude and $30 for Grok, and you're at $89.99 a month for four apps that can't see each other's work. The same accounting for each vendor is in how much ChatGPT costs, the Claude price breakdown and what Grok costs since The X Subscription.
The $6 Version: Gemini Next to Every Other Model
izzedo chat runs Gemini in the same chat as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and the rest. Gemini 3.8 Flash and Nano Banana 2 are on the free plan, which needs no card, next to GPT-6 Luna, Claude Haiku and Grok. Gemini 3.1 Pro and Gemini 4 Argon are on the $6 Hobby plan, along with every other chat model and Nano Banana Pro.

That's Flash on the free plan writing a first draft and Argon on the $6 plan checking it, in one thread. You switch models on any message, and the new one reads everything above it.
Usage is measured on a rolling window here too, with the current figures on the pricing page. Argon on a $6 plan isn't a way around compute limits. What changes is that one allowance covers every model, so the answers that don't need Argon can go to a lighter one.
It isn't a replacement for everything in a Google AI plan. izzedo isn't a storage plan, and it doesn't put Gemini inside your Google Docs. If 5 TB and Docs are why you'd pay Google, pay Google. If what you wanted was Gemini plus the models you'd otherwise pay for separately, that's what the $6 buys.
So What Should You Pay for Gemini?
- $0 if you use Gemini for everyday questions and don't mind Google choosing the model.
- $4.99 for AI Plus if you want to pick Flash yourself, need more than 200 GB of storage, or want Gemini in Gmail. It's the most usage per dollar of any paid Google plan, tied with the top Ultra tier.
- $19.99 for AI Pro if you work in Google Docs or Sheets, paste in long documents, or will use the 5 TB. Share it with your household and it's $3.33 a person.
- $99.99 or $199.99 for Ultra only if Pro's limit stops you most weeks. The $199.99 tier is the better deal per dollar.
- $7 to $14 per user for Workspace if it's for your business. Gemini comes with the email and Docs you'd buy anyway.
- Per token for the API, and budget at the December and January prices.
- $6 if what you wanted was Gemini next to ChatGPT, Claude and Grok rather than Google's storage and apps.
Google has made Gemini one of the easiest AI assistants to start using and one of the hardest to price, because the price is tied to storage, family size and which Google apps you already live in. Work those out first, and the right tier usually follows.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Gemini cost per month?
Gemini is free on Google's $0 plan. In the US the paid Google AI plans cost $4.99 a month for AI Plus, $19.99 for AI Pro, and $99.99 or $199.99 for AI Ultra, read on Google's plan page on 27 October 2026. Businesses get Gemini through Google Workspace from $7 per user a month on a yearly commitment, and developers pay per token for the API.
How much is Google AI Pro?
Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month in the US. It includes Gemini 4 Argon plus Google's Pro and Flash models in the Gemini app, 4x the free plan's usage, a 1 million token context window, Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Sheets, 5 TB of storage and YouTube Premium Lite. Google's US pages list no yearly price, and you can share the plan with up to five people in your Google family group.
What is the difference between Google AI Plus and Google AI Pro?
AI Plus ($4.99) gets the Flash model, twice the free plan's usage, a 128K context window, Gemini in Gmail and Vids, and 400 GB of storage. AI Pro ($19.99) adds Gemini 4 Argon and the Pro model, doubles usage again to 4x the free plan, raises the context window to 1 million tokens, adds Gemini in Docs and Sheets, and comes with 5 TB, YouTube Premium Lite and the option to buy AI credits. Per dollar, Plus buys more usage. Pro buys the better models and the bundle.
How much does Gemini Ultra cost?
Google AI Ultra has two prices in the US: $99.99 a month for 5x AI Pro's usage and $199.99 for 20x. Both add the highest access to Gemini 4 Argon, Project Genie, the full YouTube Premium plan and storage from 20 TB. By Google's own multipliers the $199.99 tier buys twice as much usage per dollar as the $99.99 one.
Can you share Google AI Pro with family?
Yes. Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra can each be shared with up to five other people in a Google family group, all living in the same country. Google's family-sharing help page lists the Gemini app among the AI benefits everyone in the group can use, and says Flow and Antigravity limits are shared by the whole group. Some extras stay with the plan manager, including YouTube Premium Lite and Google Home Premium.
How much does the Gemini API cost?
The Gemini API bills per million tokens. On 27 October 2026 Google's pricing page listed Gemini 4 Argon at $2 input and $10 output, rising to $4 and $20 on 1 December; Gemini 3.1 Pro at $2 and $12 for prompts up to 200K tokens; and Gemini 3.8 Flash at $0.75 and $3.75 until 31 December, then $1.50 and $7.50. The Flash models also have a free tier, on which Google uses your content to improve its products.
Is Gemini included in Google Workspace?
Yes. Google Workspace Business Starter, at $7 per user a month on a yearly commitment, includes Gemini in Gmail and chat with the Gemini app, and Business Standard at $14 adds Gemini in Docs, Meet and more. Google says your company data isn't used to train its models. Gemini Enterprise, a separate product built around agents and connectors, starts at $21 per seat a month.
What's the cheapest way to use Gemini alongside other AI models?
Gemini's own free plan costs nothing, and AI Plus at $4.99 is Google's cheapest paid tier. If you also want ChatGPT, Claude and Grok, izzedo chat has Gemini Flash on its free plan and Gemini Pro and Gemini 4 Argon on its $6 plan, in the same chat as the other models. It isn't a storage plan and doesn't put Gemini inside Google Docs, so if those are why you'd pay Google, pay Google.
